The medical school of the Universidad Aut\'f3noma de Guadalajara is the most prestigious one in Mexico.
It is the oldest private medical schools of Mexico and the faculty started its classes on June 5th, 1935. The students who opposed the imposition of socialist education by the Mexican Government, laid the foundation of this university. Its 70th anniversary was celebrated on 3rd March, 2005. The school's professional soccer team is named Tecos after the university symbol, the Tecolote. The team plays in Estadio Tres de Marzo, named for the founding date of the institution.

The medical school of Guadalajara looks for candidates who are passionate for the profession. The basic requirement is a good MCAT score. In Guadalajara Medical School, the faculty focuses not only on intellectual skills of the students but also on certain personal traits that reflect sensitivity to human needs. The curriculum provided by the Guadalajara Medical School is also designed to enhance as well as develop these qualities in the students. The curriculum of this medical school is sufficiently varied and it makes the student learn to adapt to the different environments. And while studying at this institute, one obtains sufficient depth in each basic science and clinical area of study.

A student here is taught to focus all concentration on one subject at a time and this is done through teaching one clinical subject for a longer period. A student is supposed to attend lectures for five to six hours a day and this consists of audio-visual presentations. The audio-visual presentation has a deeper impact on the learning process. The professors and teaching assistants also conduct small group seminars and discussions on clinical problems. The curriculum also gives the students a benefit of question answer session, which is again guided by the faculty.

The school has added two carefully constructed programs, for the purpose of providing help to the student's progress within the curriculum of the School of Medicine. These programs are: Program of Medicine in the Community and on-campus Integrated Course in the Basic Sciences. The second program is for those students who have completed two years. This course presents the student with latest information and techniques in test-analysis and self-improvement.

The Institute of Reconstructive Surgery is also located at Guadalajara. It is the institute that has perfected the art of plastic surgery over the last three decades.
